Longing for my own little corner of the world. All I want is an adorable two bedroom Victorian conversion with big windows and a garden. A place where I can maybe keep plants alive for once, to have a small but well lit studio and arrange my clutter just so. Too much to ask?
I have been dairy free for coming up to two weeks now. This is an unbelievable feat for me as a deeply devoted lover of cheese. It is for the good of my skin. And thighs.
So I have been indulging in a different kind of cheese to help me get by. A good dose of nostalgia has renewed my love for Doris Day, my childhood hero. So whip crack away…
I don’t know much about Sara Cwynar except that she is pretty bloody amazing especially when it comes to colour. She really has an eye for it. I find her work visually pleasing, comic and beautiful. And just really rich in… something! I can’t explain. She just hits the nail on the head making works I wish I had. Generally I’d just be jealous (which I still am) but I just want to be her friend. Too cool for school x
A couple of weeks ago I finally got to have a play with some decorations for a surprise birthday party. It was quick, cheap and dirty. But it was fun …having the vision and attempting to achieve it in record time. I kept it simple and created a focal point to keep pressure to a minimum. The effect was most pleasing! Here is a snap of my rainbow streamers…
I am currently having a love affair with fruit and vegetables. Not it that way. I mean I have rediscovered how delicious and versatile they are.
A week ago I decided to change my diet. My skin has been terrible lately, I’m always tired. I’m always ill but not quite ill enough for sympathy. Anyway. So I’ve kicked the gluten and the dairy. I cannot believe I haven’t eaten cheese for a week. This truly is a record. But I really do think what has helped, and will hopefully continue to help me, is that I can make a million and one delicious and healthy meals from little more than different combinations of fruit and vegetables. Ahh… yay me. Let see how long I can go without cake.
Here is a beautiful image from the wonderful Sonia Rentsch to celebrate my new pursuits x
I like to keep things. Record words, save silly things like a cork or a chip fork. At some point I will organise and sort all these snippets and objects, lay them out and carefully archive them, tucking them safely away in boxes. Moments forever suspended in time.
However, until I have the time and inclination to do this I am causing myself copious amounts of stress by simply having too much stuff. It is a bit suffocating to say the least.
But one day, I will have my mini museum and smile to myself. I will be able to extract PARIS FEBRUARY 2014 and find myself back following the cats around Montmartre where they will ignore me once again.
